Day 10 - Al-Hasīb: The Reckoner, The Accounter, and The Sufficient One
February 27, 2026
We completed the closing ayats of surah At-Tawbah and continued into surah Hud during Tadarus today. And subhān’Allah, the ayats felt like they were speaking directly to the heart, gently reminding, reassuring, and anchoring it back to Allah.
The ayah that lingered with me the longest was when Allah says: “Allah is sufficient for me.”
And immediately the Name Al-Hasīb, The One Who is Sufficient, The One Who is enough for His servants, settled into my heart.
Allah reminds us first of the mercy of the Prophet ﷺ, how deeply he cared for this ummah, how heavy it was on his heart when we suffered, and how gentle and compassionate he was toward the believers. It is a reminder that we were never left without guidance, never left to figure out this life on our own. Allah gave us a messenger whose concern for us was sincere and whose love for us was real.
And yet, Allah knows the nature of people. Some will accept the reminder, and some will turn away. So Allah teaches His messenger ﷺ, and by extension teaches us, what to say when people turn away, when things don’t unfold the way, we hoped: “Allah is sufficient for me.”
Subhān’Allah. What a powerful statement. It didn’t matter what my plans were, neither did my efforts nor the approval of people. Allah is sufficient for me. He alone is enough. He alone manages my affairs. He alone holds my future. He alone knows what my heart carries.
And when I read that Allah describes Himself as “Lord of the Mighty Throne,” it dawned on me that the One who is sufficient for me is the very One who governs the entire universe. The One who holds the heavens and the earth in place is the same One who holds my life together, even when I feel like things are unraveling.
Then as we continued into surah Hud, Allah shifts the focus toward what the believer must do while navigating this life of uncertainty.
Establish the prayer. Continue doing good. And be patient. Such simple instructions, yet so profound.
Allah tells us that good deeds erase bad deeds, a mercy that continuously amazes me. It means that no matter how many times I fall short, Allah has left doors open for me to return. A prayer, a moment of sincerity, a small act of goodness and He wipes away what came before it.
And then Allah reminds us of something the heart desperately needs to hear:
“And be patient! Certainly Allah does not discount the reward of the good-doers.”
Nothing is wasted with Allah. Not our effort. Not our patience. Not our tears. Not our silent struggles no one else sees. Even when the results are not visible in this moment, Allah preserves every single act done sincerely for His sake.
So today I walked with the Name Al-Hasīb, reminding myself that when the heart begins to worry about outcomes, about people, about what lies ahead, the answer is simple: Allah is sufficient for me.
Ya Rabb, Ya Hasīb, You are sufficient for me in every affair of my life. When my heart begins to feel overwhelmed by what I cannot control, remind me that You are enough. Ya Hasīb, allow my heart to find contentment in trusting You completely. Protect me from placing my reliance on anyone or anything that was never meant to carry my burdens. Ya Rabb, help me establish my prayers with sincerity, increase me in good deeds that draw me closer to You, and grant me patience in every test that comes my way.
Do not allow any effort I make for Your sake to be lost. Preserve it, accept it, and multiply it by Your mercy. And allow my heart to always return to these words with certainty: Allah is sufficient for me.
With Love,
Ibtisam
