Day 12 - Al-Haqq: The Absolute Truth
March 1, 2026
Surah Ibrahim [14:9-14]. As I sat with these ayat from Surah Ibrahim today, my heart kept returning to the name Al-Haqq, The Absolute Truth.
Allah recounts the stories of the nations before us. The people of Nuh, ‘Ad, Thamud, and those who came after them. Nations who received messengers, clear signs, and reminders, yet still chose to reject what was undeniably true.
There is a moment in these ayat that feels painfully familiar. When the messengers came to their people with truth, the response was not quiet doubt or sincere questioning. It was resistance, deflection, dismissal.
They placed their hands over their mouths and said, “We totally reject what you have been sent with, and we are certainly in alarming doubt about what you are inviting us to.” [14:9]
Sometimes truth unsettles people not because it is unclear, but because it asks something of them. Truth asks us to humble ourselves. Truth asks us to surrender control. Truth asks us to confront the parts of ourselves we would rather leave untouched.
And so instead of embracing it, people push it away. Yet the messengers responded with something so simple and so firm:
“Is there any doubt about Allah, the Originator of the heavens and the earth?” [14:10]
Subhān’Allah! The question itself carries the answer. When the heart is sincere, the signs of Allah are everywhere. In the sky that stretches endlessly above us. In the earth that holds and nourishes life beneath our feet. In the quiet rhythm of existence that we so often move through without pausing to reflect.
Allah is Al-Haqq, the Truth that remains even when people deny it, distort it, or try to silence it. Truth does not disappear because it is rejected. It simply waits for hearts that are willing to see it.
What struck me most in these ayat is that despite rejection, mockery, and resistance, the messengers did not abandon their call. They continued to speak the truth with patience and reliance upon Allah. And their response carries a lesson that feels deeply personal:
“Why should we not put our trust in Allah, when He has truly guided us to ˹the very best of˺ ways? Indeed, we will patiently endure whatever harm you may cause us. And in Allah let the faithful put their trust.” [14:12]
Guidance itself is a gift that anchors the heart. When Allah allows you to recognize the truth, to love it, to hold onto it even when the world moves in the opposite direction, that is a mercy beyond measure.
Because not everyone who sees the signs chooses to accept them. Some cover their ears. Some close their hearts. But those whom Allah guides are given the ability to see the truth for what it is, i.e., steady, unchanging, and worth holding onto no matter what surrounds them.
And today I found myself asking Allah to keep my heart among those who recognize Him as Al-Haqq, not just with my mind, but with my entire being. Because the greatest loss is not the absence of signs. The greatest loss is a heart that sees them and still turns away.
Ya Haqq, O Absolute Truth, anchor my heart firmly in the truth that comes from You. Do not allow my heart to waver when the world becomes loud with doubt and distraction. Let me recognize Your signs in everything around me and grant me the sincerity to accept them with humility. Make me among those who stand with truth, love truth, and live by truth until I return to You. Amīn.
With Love,
Ibtisam
