Day 4 - Ar-Rahmān: The Most Merciful
February 21, 2026
Today was a calm day. It was bright, with the sun out, which hasn’t been the case in the past week. Fasting was fairly easy. The entire day felt serene. And I couldn’t help but lean into the Name Ar-Rahman, The Most Merciful. It was as if Allah had cast His mercy over the day. After all, it is the month of mercy.
I wasn’t anxious to fit too much into the day. My heart felt settled, grateful to have made it to another Ramadan. I am hoping to make the most of it, but more importantly, seeking His mercy throughout the month and beyond. There was a reassurance the day carried with it, and I truly believe it was a mercy from Ar-Rahman , the One whose mercy is vast, plentiful, and reaches all of humankind, believers and non-believers alike.
There is a certainty that settles in my heart that everything will be okay. And from His mercy, I come across ayah 132 in surah An-Nisa [4], where He says:
“To Allah ˹alone˺ belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. And Allah is sufficient as a Trustee of Affairs.” [4:132]
Truly, this day, the weather, the calmness I was feeling, and all of my affairs belong to Allah. Every unseen detail, every unfolding moment, every quiet worry. And I am reminded to have trust in Him ﷻ, to find sufficiency in Him being the Trustee of Affairs. If everything belongs to Him, then so do my concerns, my hopes, and my future.
Alhamdulillah for the mercy He brought to my day, a mercy that felt gentle and enveloping. Ya Rabb, Ya Rahman, I ask for Your mercy for all of my days. Surround me in Your mercy. Make me among those who show mercy, and place in my life people of mercy.
By Your mercy, calm my worries, remove my anxieties, and grant me stability. May I never feel distant from Your mercy. Grant me Your love, and the love of those who love You, a love that finds certainty in Your mercy. Keep me hopeful in Your mercy and make me among those who are constantly returning to You.
With Love,
Ibtisam
